Laser Therapy
We are delighted to announce the arrival of a new Class 4 MLS laser, which allows us to provide new treatment modules for horses, cats and dogs and takes us into the 21st century of care for your animals.
Laser therapy or photo modulation uses light of specific wavelengths to stimulate cells in injured areas to increase local oxygenation and cell metabolism which results in accelerated healing at the specific site. The effects include reduced pain, increased circulation and decreased swelling oedema.
It is a totally painless procedure and animals do not require sedation, most treatments last 2 to 8 minutes per site and most treatment programs are twice weekly treatments for 3 weeks with follow up treatment plans tailor made for each condition.
The laser is ideal for acute and chronic injuries, osteoarthritic treatments, enhanced wound healing, and reducing swelling after operations and also for infected or non-healing wounds.
The laser is portable and can be used on horses, cat and dogs either in a stable setting or in the practice.
For our clients wishing to travel abroad with their pets, we can arrange everything to meet the requirements for a PETS passport.
The PETS travel scheme allows domestic dogs and cats to accompany their owners abroad to certain countries and return to the UK without undergoing quarantine. The qualifying countries include member states of the EEC, USA and Canada. This means you can now go on holiday with your pet as long as you fulfil the conditions of the scheme.
The PETS scheme requires a large number of conditions to be met and you should research them well. All the latest information is available on the DEFRA website www.defra.gov.uk/pets or call their hotline on 03702411710. You should always check the rules with DEFRA before travelling even if you are only going to the EU as they vary widely from country to country.
We have in-house laboratory facilities which allow us to carry out rapid diagnosis of a range of medical conditions.
Blood Analysis Equipment - a wide range of tests can be done including kidney function, liver function, blood proteins, calcium, phosphate, electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chlorine) and the red and white blood cell types.
These results are available in minutes and mean that we can readily check for disease before surgical procedures, find vital information for the rapid diagnosis of problems and also monitor the state of ongoing conditions.
It’s easy to have your pet microchipped and it’s the responsible thing to do.
Having your pet fitted microchip means you have the best chance of being reunited with your pet if they go missing.
We can microchip almost any animal – cat, dog, horse and exotics.
Microchipping of all dogs before they reach 8 weeks old is a legal requirement.
