⚠️ We are still here for you. ⚠️
We are following guidance from the government and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and remain open, however we are not operating our business as usual.
At this point in time it is important that we help protect our team, our clients and community by promoting social distancing and reducing the spread of COVID-19. As a practice we will always protect animal health.
We have reduced the number of staff we have working from the practice. Therefore, we ask you to please be patient and understanding. Rest assured we are doing our very best.
If you have an emergency, please do not hesitate to call us and we will get you an appointment with one of our vets immediately. If you require advice or have a non-emergency, please download our Virtual Vet App and request an appointment (chargeable at £20 in advance) or phone us and we will book you a telephone consult (chargeable at £10 in advance). If one of our vets consider it necessary for you to make a trip to the practice your fee for your virtual or telephone consultation will be credited against our normal charges.
If you are asked to come to the practice there are several strict policies you must follow. Please arrive on time for your appointment. Please alert us to the fact you have arrived for your appointment either by phone, or by coming to the window on the left-hand side. To comply with social distancing clients are required to hand their pets to a vet or veterinary nurse at the door of the practice. Unfortunately, clients are not permitted into the practice.
Repeat Prescriptions
We would ask that you give us 24 hours’ notice when ordering any medication. This will allow us to label and prepare in advance before collection. We are only handing out prescriptions between 2-4 pm each day. We will continue to deliver essential medications where possible (small charge applies).
Our Newton Stewart branch will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday for emergency consultations and collection of urgent prescriptions.
Any further questions please contact the practice and we will do our best to help.
Thanks once again for your understanding!
****Attention Equine Clients ****
We continue to see all sick and injured horses.
There will however be a few changes when we visit you.
Following guidelines from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) we have resumed the vaccination of horses when this can
be carried out safely and physical distancing of 2 metres can be guaranteed.
We appreciate that the earlier suspension of vaccinations has resulted in lapsed vaccinations and this has been extremely frustrating for clients. This situation was out with our control, please contact us and we will advise how it's best to proceed.
Cat, Dog & Rabbit Vaccinations??
Following guidelines from the Government and Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) we have suspended all annual vaccination boosters in an otherwise healthy dogs and cats. These are currently not considered urgent and can reasonably be delayed by 3 months. If your pet is due an annual booster vaccination, we will be in touch with anyone with a lapsed vaccination when life returns to normal! Please understand that this decision has been made for us, and every other veterinary practice in the UK. Although it is disappointing, we must all act responsibly to control the spread of COVID19.
From Tuesday the 16th April we will resume the vaccination of puppies and kittens and first year boosters only. Please contact us to make an appointment. To allow us to carry out the procedure we will ask you to wait outside the practice whilst the vaccination and health check is carried out.
We have also resumed the vaccination of rabbits due to the seasonality of disease.
